MJAHL news and notes

Paul Currie, head coach and general manager of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League, will not return to the club for the 2008-2009 season.
He led the team to a 42-13-1-2 record on 2007-08, good enough to take the Meek Division's regular season title.
The Timberwolves carried the momentum into the playoffs by defeating the Charlottetown Abbies in four games in the opening round of the post-season, but came up short as the fell to the Woodstock Slammers in the Meek final.
"I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience in Miramichi," said Currie. "The organization was very accommodating to me and I had a great group of young players to work with, many of whom will be back with the club next season. I wish them the very best for the future."
Timberwolves President Robert Holmes commented on Currie's decision and made clear the team's intentions of filling the vacancy left with his departure as soon as possible.
"Paul was very dedicated to the Timberwolves organization," he said. "Our players were always well prepared and knew what was expected of them each and every game, right from the start of the season. He leaves the team with a strong core of returning players which should allow us to be very strong contenders once again next season. The experience that they gained this playoff season is invaluable. The Timberwolves executive will begin the search for a new head coach and GM immediately. We expect to draw some top-quality applicants just as we have done in the past. The Timberwolves are focused on providing an elite Junior A environment for both athletically and academically talented players."
In other league news, Restigouche Tigers Coach and GM John Paris Jr. is at home recovering from a heart attack which he suffered two weeks ago.
He was originally admitted for care in Campbellton, but was moved to hospital in St. John.
Now at home, Paris says he is thankful and looking forward to the 2008-09 season.
"I must thank all of the players, fans, coaches and parents who took the time to think of me and my family."
