Playschool: The Florenceville-Bristol Playschool has openings available in its three-year-old class for the fall of 2008-09. For more information, contact Cathy at 392-6716.
Standard First Aid/CPR (ReCert): This course will be held Tuesday, Oct. 28 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Northern Carleton Civic Centre with instructor Cheryl Crain. Cost for the course is $85. For more information, contact the Floreneceville-Bristol recreation department.
Adult Bicycle Club: This program will start again in May, 2009!
Senior Carpet Bowling: This program will be held every Tuesday starting Oct. 21 at the Florenceville Fitness Connection from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $3 per person.
Walking Club: A new, and exciting, walking club for adults and seniors starts Oct. 20. This new program will keep walkers motivated by having their distances tabulated weekly. Participants will also be be able to see how far they can travel by logging their walks on a map. Cost for this program is $15. For more information, contact the recreation department.
Gymnastics: River Valley Gymnastics will present Great Exercise, Great Friends and Great Fun at the Florenceville Fitness Connection. These 8- and 10-week programs started Aug. 27. Programs, prices, and times, are as follows: Can-Gym Bronze ($55.00) - boys and girls 6-and-over, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.; Flip Kids ($55.00): boys and girls of ages 4 and 5, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Tiny Tumblers ($45): boys and girls 18 months to 3-years-of-age, 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m., with a $15 insurance fee. Those planning to attend are asked to register at the recreation department.
Badminton: Tuesday sessions in the sport are held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Florenceville Middle School. Players must bring their own racquet and the cost is $3.
Fitness Classes: These sessions are scheduled to start Sept. 8. For more information. please contact the Florenceville Fitness Connection at 392-6438.
Adult Bicycle Club: A social bike ride will be held every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 6:15 p.m. Meeting place will be at Northern Carleton Civic Centre.
Those planning to take part are asked to bring their own bike and safety gear. Those wishing more information may contact the recreation department.
Seniors' Group: Weekly sessions for older persons and seniors are held every Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Florenceville Village Hall. These events will include socialization, games, cards, activities, outings and much more.
2008 Shinny Hockey Season: The pass for the 2008 Shinny Hockey Season is $90, for a savings of $15. This program will start on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
Sessions will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from noon to 1 p.m., until Tuesday, Dec. 23, at the NCCC. Players must use, and bring, their own helmet, facemask, gloves, stick and skates.
Monthly passes are as follows: October - $25 (savings of $5); November - $35 (savings of $5), and December - $30 (savings of $5). These passes are available at the Florenceville-Bristol Recreation Department.
Public Skating: Public skating will be held this fall and winter at the NCCC, starting Oct. 17. Sessions on Fridays will be from 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. and on Sundays from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., starting Oct. 19.
All events as part of this program are subject to change. Those under five years-of-age get in free, while family rates are as follows: family of four - $6 (savings of $2); family of five - $8 (savings of $2); family of six - $10 (savings of $2).
Hockey Canada Skills Development Camp: This session will be held Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Northern Carleton Civic Center. Those wishing more information may contact the recreation department.
Western Valley Senior Bowling: The Western Valley Recreation Association has teamed up to provide five senior bowling opportunities at the Woodstock Bowlacade.
The sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to noon. The cost is $5 and dates are Oct. 23, Nov. 20, Dec. 11, Jan. 22, Feb. 19, March 19, and April 16.
