The Woodstock Slammers’ 2008 start-of-season golf scramble was held on Friday, Aug. 29 with 16 teams hitting the links.

Cash proceeds from the championships, which tallied more than $12,000, will go towards the Maritime Junior A Hockey League team’s 2008- 09 season.

Tops at the event was the Tann Paper squad, as they shot a 53 gross on nine-hole counts of 27 and 26.

Second place went to Fast Track with a 54 (27-27), with third place to McCain GTC with a 65 (30-35).

The squads who took part could also bid on Slammers, both past and present, they could add as an additional player to their four-member teams.

The Maritime Junior A Hockey League's third annual Showcase Weekend will be held this year in Summerside on the Thanksgiving holiday.

Games as part of the series will take place Oct. 10 to 12 at the Summerside Wellness Centre.

As per previous Showcase events, all MJAHL clubs will play contests over the course of the three-day event, with all games counting toward the overall standings.
