Lower Hainesville's Leclair wins final race of season at Geary

The 2008 Enduro racing season for Steve Seveck of Temperance Vale came down to the wire on Monday, as the veteran wheelman came within a whisker of winning the Geary, N.B. track's overall title at Speedway 660.
In the fourth and final scheduled 200 lap race of the series, held on Labour Day evening, Seveck, in his trusty #44, was among the leaders the whole way before Todd Leclair, his friendly Carleton County rival from Lower Hainesville, who was smokin' in his #68, eventually took the win and the top cash payout.
Seveck's top-flight second place finish, however, couldn't stop Ed Vallis of Welsford from winning the crown in yet another title run for the veteran driver.
All was not good for local racers on the evening, as the Flaming #8 race team of Dale Hathaway of Beechwood and Benji Ruff of Carlow had entered the final event with a six-point lead in the overall standings, but a disastrous night of racing left them in a tie for last place on the evening and off the podium all-together.
Pat Sharpe of Woodstock was fifth in the feature with his #51, while Tyler Seveck and Brad Lavinge of Temperance Vale ended up 13th in their #70.
In race action on Saturday at Speedway 660,Cody Price of Campbell Settlement in his #81 was the top local finisher, as he placed 13th in a field of 26 as part of the 2008 O'Leary Pontiac Excitement 150 sportsman feature at Geary.
Jeremy Graham of Jacksonville was 16th overall, with Brian Gillespie of Nackawic in 25th.
Racing will resume at Speedway 660 on the Sept. 13 weekend with a 2 p.m. start.
The final event of the year will include a tripleheader, which will feature the Coast Tire Street Stocks, the Martin's Home Heating Sportsman, and the Irving Lubricants Pro Stocks 50-lappers.
