Meductic Fun Days 2008 will kick off on Friday evening, Aug. 22, at 7 p.m. with a corn boil in the Meductic Memorial Park.
Everyone will be treated with all the corn they can eat and there will be a barbecue and a canteen on site.
Wayne Lozier and Company will be on hand to provide entertainment from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will be a fire-works display at dark.
It's expected the event will be a great family fun time with the kids enjoying the park and all of the playground equipment. Admission to the evening's events will be by-donation only.
Saturday, Aug. 23, gets underway with a street parade. This year's theme is Back to Basics – Think Green. Line up will be at 12 p.m. in the Sabian parking lot with the parade scheduled to get started at 1 p.m.
Following the parade there will be a Fishing Derby for the kids from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Registration for the derby will be in the park and all kids participating must be accompanied by an adult and will be required to bring their own fishing equipment. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: ages 3 to 5; ages 6 to 8; and ages 9 to 12.
At 3 p.m., Perley the Magician will take the stage in the park and entertain both the young and the young at heart with his magic tricks.
A Paint Ball Shoot will run throughout the afternoon from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
There will be a barbecue in the park during the afternoon's activities.
A delicious roast beef supper with all the trimmings and a dessert of strawberry short cake will be served in the Meductic Community Centre from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The roast beef is being prepared by well-known chef Heino from John Gyles. Cost of the supper is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 10 years of age.
Meductic Fun Days will draw to a close on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. with a Gospel Concert in the community centre.
There will be lots of great gospel music with light refreshments being served during the concert. Admission will be by-donation only.
Meductic Fun Days 2008 is being sponsored by the Meductic Recreation Council and will be a great place to bring the family for lots of fun, entertainment and good food. Hope to see you there!
