In their case, a tie was just as good as a win on Saturday, as the Wildmen RFC came from behind to notch a 20-20 verdict against hometown Saint John RFC in New Brunswick Rugby Union senior B men's league play in the Port City.

The local side trailed 15-10 at the half, but a strong second half, combined with some big runs by its talented lineup, made the difference in the deadlock.

Trevor McGuire, Patrick Harris, Ricky Demerchant and Matt Delong scored for the Wildmen.

Veteran Wildmen Chad Crawford said the match was a far cry from the team's opener a week before.

"After we lost our first game to Charlotte County, we wanted to build on some things towards this match against Saint John, including getting some of our injured players back and getting our rookies a little more experience," he said. "Saint John has a big team, but we stayed focused on our game plan and wore them down in the second half, which led to the tie. This tie is just as good as a win for us. We are taking a lot of positives from this game, which we can use for the remainder of the regular season."

The Wildmen will be in Perth-Andover on Saturday, Aug. 23 for a Hullabaloo security fundraiser before returning to league play on Saturday, Aug. 30 for a road contest against Belleisle.

The Wildmen are schedule to have its home opener in Woodstock, either on Sept. 6 or Sept. 11, against UNB.
