It's Canadian Library Month – Celebrate at your library. Each week, there will be a free draw for a gift bag of books. All you have to do to enter is sign out a book – one entry for each visit. We will also have a Giving Tree – names of books the library would like to have are on the leaves. Purchase a book for your library and get a tax receipt. So, take a leaf from the Giving Tree and watch your library grow!
Did you know that every two out of tree Canadians has a public library card? That is 21 million people!
Then again, maybe that statistic isn't too surprising, considering that 97 per cent of all Canadians live a community that is served by a public library.
October is Canadian Library Month, and libraries across the country are celebrating all month long. Libraries play a critical role in life-long learning, and have a direct impact on the lives of Canadians each and every day.
In New Brunswick, all residents are entitled to free library membership, and they can use their card at any public library or bookmobile in the province. The public libraries provide programs and services to people of all ages to foster a culture of life-long learning.
Its books, DVDs, CDs magazines, information databases and Internet access are freely available to support learning, recreation and information needs of New Brunswickers. Those who aren't already a member, should head down to their local library and see what it can offer.
