Fitch day in Woodstock
Published Tuesday July 22nd, 2008

Award-winning children's author Sheree Fitch is closing down Queen Street in Woodstock this weekend.
Fitch is touring the Maritimes with her first novel for adult readers, and she is making a full-day stop in New Brunswick's First Town.
This exciting event, hosted by The Owl Book & Gift Shop, will kick off at 12:45 p.m. with a welcome from Mayor Art Slipp on Queen Street, which will be closed from Main to Richmond. School District 14's Joy Hanson will also be on hand to lead the children in an exercise with a parachute. Watch for the renowned-children's author to also get in on the fun.
Shortly after 1 p.m., Fitch will be reading from two of her newest children's books – Kisses Kisses Baby-O! and Peak-A-Little Boo. Storytime with Sheree and some book signings will take place until 2:30 p.m.
The author will be off site from 3 to 4:30 p.m. with a writing workshop for teens at Woodstock Middle School. There is only seating for around 40 participants, so call Owl today to reserve a spot. The emphasis of this workshop will be on Fitch's novel Gravesavers. There is no charge.
Fitch will return to Queen Street at 7 p.m. for the release of her adult fiction novel Kiss the Joy as it Flies – a thrilling joy-ride through a week in the life of a self-made woman facing her deepest fears.
Panic-stricken by the news that she needs exploratory surgery, 48-year-old Mercy Beth Fanjoy drafts a monumental to-do list and sets about putting her messy life in order. Among other things (hide the vibrator), she's determined to finally uncover the identity of her secret admirer; reconnect with long-lost friend and rival Teeny Gaudet; and, most importantly, get her hands on the note her father left before committing suicide all those years ago. But tidying up the edges of her life means the past comes rushing back to haunt her and the present keeps throwing up more to dos. Between fits of weeping and laughter, ranting and bliss, Mercy must contemplate the meaning of life in the face of her own death. In a week filled with the riot of an entire life, nothing turns out the way she expected.
Join the author for a reading from the novel and a book signing.
