Plans are now well underway for the fifth annual County Gospel Music Festival, July 12, at FARM Park in Fort Fairfield.

"Our mission is simple, to bring the Word of God through Gospel music to as many people as possible," states the festival committee's mission statement. "This festival is an outreach, intended to encourage the faith of believers and to bring the message of Jesus Christ to those who are not yet believers."

The committee is excited about a terrific lineup of groups including The Campbells from Manchester, Maine, and The MacDonald Family Singers from Orange, Maine.

The Campbells are new to the festival but are not new to Aroostook County, having ministered there in several churches over the years.

Also new to the festival this year are Common Ground and Ginette Irving and Friends.

Other groups returning are The LaClaires, Free Indeed!, The Kinney Trio, High Meadow, Higher Ground, Glorybound, and the Five Smooth Stones.

As always, the festival will be a full day of uplifting gospel music.

The day begins at 10 a.m. (gates open at 9 a.m.) and will keep going until 6 p.m.

A full schedule is posted at the festival Web site – www.countygospel.com – where you can also get directions, see photos of some of the groups and view video from past festivals.

Tickets are $8 per person for the entire eight-hour day, and children 12 and under are free. The committee feels this is an event to bring the entire family to.

"We are also exploring some avenues to provide special activities for children throughout the day," states a festival press release. "There will be vendors on-site providing food and drinks for purchase. Of course the family can always pack a picnic lunch if you wish. There will be picnic tables on-site. We also have indoor restrooms available."

Remember, the concert is held in a covered area, so come rain or shine, and don't forget lawn chairs.

"If you've never been to the County Gospel Music Festival, you have truly missed a blessing from the Lord, so please make plans to join us on Saturday, July 12, in Fort Fairfield. You won't be sorry you came."
