Lynn Rose invites you in today to explore her fashionable women’s clothing line.

Lynn Rose, owner of Jolyn Boutique, specializes in ladies wear, but also offers a variety of purses, wallets, jewelry, accessories, and, most importantly, honesty.

Having started her boutique 23 years ago in her basement, Rose enjoys every minute of entrepreneurship.

Rose moved to Woodstock from Halifax, Nova Scotia, where she was working at the Bank of Montreal. Rose said transferring from Halifax to Woodstock was a big change and there were not a lot of full-time openings for employment.

Having a love of clothes, Rose thought it might be something Woodstock could add to what was already here.

Rose operated her boutique out of her basement for a year before deciding it was a productive business and people enjoyed everything she brought in. She then chose to move to a more convenient location in downtown Woodstock.

Rose said she moved into the old Rose Department Store, which she thought was kind of a neat coincident.

She began running the business with herself and two other employees. She then hired Bonnie Currie during the year Rose was pregnant with her first child. Currie has been with her ever since.

"Nineteen and a half years, and she has been here full-time ever since," said Rose.

Cassandra Stairs is also an employee at the boutique.

Fifteen years ago, Rose's boutique moved again to what is now their current location on Main Street in Woodstock.

Approximately seven years ago, Rose expanded the boutique and just recently the inside of the store was refurbished.

"Bright, cheery and welcoming; a one of a kind for our area," Rose explained the new look.

Jolyn Boutique is a store with personal service, said Rose.

"We know our customers by name and will do everything we can to help with their needs."

Rose's main focus is on the customer.

"Many times a customer will call us at lunch time and say their coming in and I'll run out and get a sandwich for them."

Rose said the best thing about her job is having her customers and the friends she has made though the business.

Having this business has allowed Rose to do a lot of volunteer work with the local chamber of commerce and at area schools.

Jolyn Boutique is open from Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

You can contact Lynn Rose by phone at (506) 328-9628 or through e-mail at BoutiqueJolyn@yahoo.ca, or stop in and take a lot at her run-way clothing and fashionable accessories at 651 Main Street, Woodstock.
