A Moncton man will stay in jail for at least the next few days after being accused of assaulting several police officers early Thursday morning.

Darrien Donald Killam, 25, appeared in provincial court by phone from the Codiac RCMP detachment on Thursday and was charged with five offences. The Crown objected to his release and his bail hearing was set for Monday.

Killam is charged with four counts of assaulting Cpl. Jeremy Bastarache and constables Christopher Smith, Corey Gallant and Dan Foley, all while they were engaged in the execution of their duties.

He’s also charged with breaching a July 31, 2023, probation order that required him to “keep the peace and be of good behaviour.”
