The Village Lighthouse in Benton will play host to one of gospel music's most acclaimed trios.

On Sunday, May 18, at 10:30 a.m. Kevin Spencer & Friends will take the stage. The southern gospel group, which organized in 1992, features Kevin Spencer, James Dean and Starla Dean.

Spencer, who formerly travelled with the Spencers, says he has witnessed many lives changed through gospel music. "Kevin is admired by his fans wherever the group goes with his desire to be a blessing and minister, while delivering a song," said Rev. Luke Weaver of the Village Lighthouse. "His greatest moments are when something he has written or sung has truly touched someone's life."

Spencer also owns and operates the Some Dawning Music Co. Inc. Intl.. a company that includes recording, songwriting, publishing, promoting, and producing of great southern gospel music.

James Dean says he enjoys travelling from town to town singing for God. He also enjoys the opportunity his travels present to meet people and make new friends. Since joining the group in 1997, James has built a large a fan base with his beautiful baritone voice. His love for gospel music continues to grow as more lives are touched day by day. He also helps run the offices at Some Dawning Music Co.

Starla Dean joined the group in 2006, singing tenor. Whether singing harmony or sharing her own song and style, she has earned raves from fans.

Starla too works in the office, assisting Kevin with the Some Dawning Music Co.

They gospel has been awarded the Singing News "Horizon Group of the Year" and the Gospel Voice "Sunrise Group of the Year," the two highest honours for a new group to receive.

Kevin Spencer & Friends, who perform 260 concerts per year in 30 different states, Canada, the Virgin Islands, Honduras and Grand Cayman Islands, can be seen on several Christian TV stations including GMT (Gospel Music Television) and the Gaither Gospel Series.

Bill Gaither has invited the group to be a part of his videos All Day Singing; So Glad and Sunday Meetin' Time.
