ECMA gospel nominees 4Given to perform in Kirkland

St. David's Presbyterian Church in Kirkland has quickly become known as the venue for the gospel concert of the summer season in Carleton County.
This year, St. David's will host the New Brunswick gospel group 4Given as part of the church's 132nd anniversary celebration. The event takes place on Aug. 24 at 2 p.m.
Based in Fredericton, 4Given was nominated for an East Coast Music Award for gospel recording of the year in 2007.
"St. David's is excited to have the opportunity to host this dynamic group of performers," said Rev. Justin Kim, interim moderator. "Reviews of their music describe a modern sound with big production values and songs of praise and worship that will fill the rafters of the historic church. It will definitely be an event to remember."
4Given is made up of Mark and Evangeline Inman and Darlene Lemmon. The group brought their talents together in 2004, after performing for many years as soloists, choir members and in various singing groups. Since then, they have travelled across Canada to share their Christian message, performing for community events and charitable causes such as Bridges of Canada, an international prison ministry, and Angel Street, an outreach ministry for the homeless. Evangeline Inman is also president of the Women Who Worship conferences where 4Given performs regularly across the nation. She is also a co-author of Shine-On, a newly published book of true stories about ordinary people who have experienced God in different ways.
"4Given is looking forward to being a part of the anniversary celebrations at St. David's in Kirkland," said Evangeline Inman. "We pray for God's blessing on this joyous event."
The group 4Given released their first self-entitled album in 2004, which received a Covenant Award nomination from the Canadian Gospel Music Association for inspirational album of the year. In 2006, 4Given released a second album, We Look to You, which was nominated for two Covenant Awards and received one award for a song written by group member Darlene Lemmon. 4Given also received the 2007 Shai Award for inspirational album of the year. Earlier in their career, the group opened the Worship East Summer Concert Series for Grammy and Dove Award recipient Rebecca St. James.
There will be no admission fee to attend 4Given's performance in Kirkland. A free-will offering will be received during the service of music. Memorials to former church members and residents of the community will be included in the Aug. 24 program. Anniversary cake and refreshments will be served following the service.
St. David's Presbyterian Church was named a provincial historic site in 2005. It was built by the community of Kirkland in the late 1800s, primarily by Scottish, Irish and English settlers who came to the area as pioneers. The established date of the church is 1876.
