Relay for Life teams are busy organizing fundraising efforts throughout Carleton and York counties for this summer’s events in Woodstock and Nackawic.

The following is a listing of ongoing fundraisers, meetings and events:

The Mommy and Me Mother’s Day promotion will be held this weekend at Carleton Mall in Woodstock. This Friday, May 9, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 10, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., photos will be taken at the mall of momsandfamilyfor$3.99each.Photos will be available immediately.

Luminaries (candles) will also be available for purchase in honour of mothers who survived or in memory of mothers who lost the fight against this dreadful disease.

Also, win a 2008 Honda Accord EXL automatic with navigational system – value $40,000-plus – donated by New Brunswick Honda Association.

Tickets will be on sale for $10 each or three for $25.

The Carleton Mall display will be manned by Relay for Life team members and all proceeds will go to the Relay for Life. Please come out and support this worthwhile cause.

The Woodstock Wesleyan Church is holding a Relay for Life fundraising dinner on Saturday, May 10. Starting at 6 p.m., a lasagna and caesar salad supper will be served by donation, followed by a dessert auction/silent auction. This event is being held at the Woodstock Wesleyan Church, 705 Main Street.

Florenceville Legion Branch #37 Relay for Life Field of Poppies team is holding a dance on May 10 at the Florenceville Legion. Music will be provided by the Debarker Boys. Admission is $7 at the door. Proper identification is required. Tickets on a Mother’s Day basket will also be sold at the door. The dance will run from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Relay for Life team Angels Among Us will host a dance, from 9 to midnight, May 17, at the Canterbury Community Centre. The evening’s music will be provided by Russell Dickinson and Mixed Company. Admission is by donation. For information call Susan Patterson at 279-1989.

The Angels are also holding a yard sale and book sale on May 24 at 69 Wildwood Drive, off Beardsley Road in Lower Woodstock. Anyone who would like to make a donation for the sale can drop off items at the above address any evening. For more information call 328-6195.

The Scotia Meduxnekeag Walkers Relay for Life team wishes have announced that luminary candles are now available at Scotiabank branches in Bath, Florenceville, Hartland and Woodstock. Purchase a luminary in honour of cancer survivors and in memory of loved ones lost to cancer.

Luminaries are $7 each or two for $10.

The luminaries will light up the Connell Park Raceway in Woodstock during the June 6 and 7 event.

Colourful Crusaders Relay for Life team is selling tickets on a “Bedroom Makeover.” The winner will receive Benjamin Moore Collection Paint for the walls, ceiling and trim; professional skilled labour up to 16 hours; Brunelli Bedding, including quilt or duvet and shams and a bedskirt; complete colour consultation and advice. The entire package has an $800 value. Tickets at $10 are available at Benjamin Moore on 794 Main St. in Woodstock or from any team member.

Team Angels Among Us is selling tickets on an angel throw/ Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Tickets can be purchased by calling Debra Thomas at 328-6195 or can be picked up tickets at the Upper River Valley Hospital, labour an delivery department.

There will be a silent auction held at the Nackawic Firemen’s Breakfast on Saturday, May 17, in support of the Kids for the Cure and Nackawic Childcare Inc. Relay for Life team.

On May 31, this team will also hold a giant yard sale at 8 McLaren Crescent in Nackawic.
