Transport overturns on highway
A driver of tractor trailer escaped serious injury after his rig careened into the guard rail and rolled over, just south of Florenceville along the Trans Canada Highway.
District 7 RCMP Sgt. Dave Vautour said the truck was east bound early Thursday morning, around marker 168, when it veered of the road, taking out 150 feet of guard rail before flipping over and coming to rest on its side.
The Hartland Fire Department was dispatched to the call around 12:15 a.m.
Fire Chief Mike Walton said the truck, belonging to Downeast Trucking in Dieppe, was a B-train loaded with masonry products.
When he arrived on scene, Walton said, the truck was on its side, blocking of both east-bound lanes. He added it appeared bricks had been thrown from the truck during the crash.
Vautour said the east-bound lanes were closed until 5 a.m. on Thursday as Brun-Way crews cleaned up the scene. Walton added there was no fuel spill.
The investigation into the crash continues.
