2008 Next Great Poet Contest

Winners in the 2008 Next Great Poet Contest, co-sponsored by the Bugle-Observer and the Owl Book & Gift Shop in Woodstock, were saluted with their prizes on Thursday, May 1, by bookstore co-owner John Carmont. The winners include, from left, Margaret Meed, 9, of Victoria Corner (10-and-under winner for The Robin); Haley McLean, 7, of Harvey Station (Honourable Mention for Spring); and Sara Cook, 17, of Jacksonville (ages 11-to-17 winner for Healing). Absent is Wanda Porter of Benton (ages 18-and-over winner for The Way He Smiled At Me).
