Habitat corner

Interior work continues
Work on the interior of the Habitat for Humanity – Carleton County Chapter – home continues in Woodstock.
The crews are now attending to the finishing details on the main floor in the bedroom areas of the home. Last week the volunteers completed the installation of flooring in two of the three bedrooms. This weekend it is hoped that the remaining flooring will be finished in the hallway and in the third bedroom.
Once the floors are complete, the window casings and light fixtures will be added. After the doors are hung, the bedrooms will be ready for the installation of base boards and door casings. The bedroom closets are also ready for doors, shelving and clothes rods.
The remaining flooring in the kitchen, bathroom and living room areas will be finished later after the plumbing fixtures and cabinet work are complete. With the exception of the front door and stairway entrance area, the crack filling and painting are now complete. Each room has received two coats of paint and the ceilings are finished throughout the house.
Next up is the cabinetry and exterior siding. It is hoped that the siding will be completed on the weekend if the accessories arrive.
