Police say a Fredericton man has died following a crash near Edmundston on Boxing Day.

In a news release from the RCMP on Wednesday, police reported a 26-year-old Fredericton man, one of three people in the vehicle, died in a single-vehicle crash in Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska, which is about halfway between Edmundston and St. Leonard on Rte. 2, the main highway in northwestern New Brunswick.

The release said the man, who died at the scene, was a passenger in the vehicle while the driver and second passenger were transported to hospital with what were believed to be non life-threatening injuries.

The release stated the crash remains under investigation.
