Choose your words carefully
It is no rare circumstance when a medium of the media offends some of their users. Usually I am not one of those people – but that changed.
I don’t know how to say this without being brutally honest, and possibly insulting some people along the way.
As the world knows by now, the Penguins lost the Stanley Cup to the Red Wings. Well according to a big broadcast television station, this caused Maritime Heartbreak. Being thorough broadcasters, they then went on to show the heartbreak by interviewing a child who didn’t look older than seven years old.
This is normally wording from a story I would have taken with a grain of salt and brushed off with no further after thought. I just can’t brush this one off without voicing my own opinion. Being a fan of hockey and even for those who are not, this insulted me.
How can a broadcaster use the term Maritime Heartbreak because Sid the Kid lost the Stanley Cup this year, after the tragic passing of a Luc Bourdon? There was a lack of consideration by the part of this broadcaster to all the people who knew, and are grieving this lost. This being so fresh for so many people, losing the 2008 Stanley Cup shouldn’t come near heartbreak in comparison.
