Nackawic's Lynn Reid was one of the artists showcasing her art at last year's Art by the Rivers in downtown Woodstock. The third annual event, sponsored by the Greater Woodstock Chamber of Commerce, will be back on the waterfront again this Sunday. This year, musical performers will be joining the artists and craftspeople to enhance the show.

The outdoor art show gets underway on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. along to waterfront next to the Woodstock Farm Market.

Co-organizer Derek Bennett said the event is designed to showcase the work and talents of artisans and craftspeople, and visitors can expect to see various forms of artwork, from pottery to painting.

Since the last two years for the event have enjoyed great success, Bennett expects more of the same this year. Many artists from around the province have agreed to attend the show.

"We have about 15 or 16 artists right now, with more to come," he said. "We have got them from Fredericton, Plaster Rock, Saint John, Harvey Station as well as locally."

Some of the local artists include Grafton's well-known wood sculptor Kerry O'Toole.

In an effort to spice things up this year, Bennett said, they have added something new and different to the event.

"We have partnered with the Meduxnekeag Music Festival to have their music day down there at the same time," explained Bennett. "So there are three or four musicians that will be performing during the afternoon."

The event will also feature a charity barbecue, with proceeds going to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Bennett urges everyone to come out, enjoy the annual art show and see the artistic talent in the Valley and surrounding areas. Hopefully, the weather will co-operate, he added.

"You will get to see the talent from two artistic points of view," he said. "One is visual and the other one is hearing."
