ANKARA, Turkey - Turkey's state-run news agency says Kurdish rebels have killed four people in an attack on a small village in southeast Turkey.

The Anatolia news agency says the rebels rounded up people in the village in Bingol province and shot and killed four of them.

Seven others were injured.

The motive for the attack late Saturday was not immediately clear.

The Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, has been fighting for self-rule in southeast Turkey since 1984.

The fighting has killed tens of thousands of people. The group uses strongholds in northern Iraq for cross-border raids.

Turkey, the U.S. and the European Union consider the PKK a terrorist organization.
